A Pilot Study to Determine the Safety and Efficacy of Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation by Rotating Fields for the Treatment of patients with Depression

Geha Mental Health Center, Israel

Clinical depression is one of the most common mental disorders. BrainsWay has successfully carried out several trials in depression using a variety of different deep coils and has FDA clearance for treatment with the H1 coil. In this study, a novel form of stimulation is being used. Rotational field Deep TMS™ is a unique form of TMS developed by BrainsWay and its collaborators based on a dual channel design. The technique utilizes a rotating electric field vector that is capable of activating a much wider range of neurons under the treatment coil that ever achieved before.

The study aims to compare the efficacy of Rotational Field Deep TMS to standard single channel Deep TMS (based on the H7 coil) in a group of patients suffering from Major Depressive Disorder (MDD).
